Airocool undertakes plumbing work across Durban and the KZN North Coast, with a particular focus on the areas that overlap with our core business: geyser installation and replacement, heat pump water heater plumbing, condensate drainage, and leak detection and repair. We also handle general domestic plumbing repairs. Because we already work on the heating and cooling side of a property, plumbing and HVAC work can be coordinated in one visit rather than across two contractors and two schedules.

Where plumbing and climate control meet

Heat pump water heaters are a plumbing job and a refrigeration job at the same time. Air conditioning condensate has to be drained somewhere legitimate, with the correct fall, and doing that badly is the single most common cause of water damage we are called to. Geyser replacements, solar and heat pump retrofits all sit on the same boundary. Doing both sides in one team removes the argument about whose problem it is.

Coastal plumbing realities

Properties along the coast deal with harder conditions than most: corrosion on exposed fittings, salt-driven degradation of external pipework and brackets, and the general wear of a marine environment. Specifying appropriate materials on exposed work — rather than the cheapest fitting that passes on the day — is the difference between a repair that lasts and one you revisit in two seasons.

Plumbing — common questions

Do you do plumbing as well as air conditioning?
Yes. Plumbing sits alongside our core HVAC work rather than replacing it. It is particularly useful where the two overlap — heat pump geysers, condensate drainage, geyser replacements — because one team can coordinate the whole job instead of you scheduling two contractors and mediating between them.
Can you replace my geyser with a heat pump?
Yes, and it is one of the more worthwhile upgrades available on the KZN coast. A heat pump water heater typically uses around a third of the electricity of a conventional element geyser. We handle both the plumbing and the refrigeration side in-house. See our heating and heat pumps page for how the sizing works.
Why is water dripping from my aircon and is that a plumbing problem?
It is a drainage problem, which is where the two trades meet. The indoor unit condenses a large amount of water out of humid Durban air, and that water leaves via a drain line that blocks over time with dust and biofilm. Clearing and, where the original run was poorly done, re-routing that drain with correct fall is the permanent fix.
