Emergency Aircon Breakdown Call-Outs

Because units fail on the hottest day, on a Friday, with guests arriving.

Airocool attends emergency air conditioning breakdowns across Durban and the KZN North Coast, including after-hours and weekend call-outs. Priority is given to situations where the failure has real consequences — a business unable to trade, a server or comms room overheating, a medical facility, a school, or a household with vulnerable occupants during a heatwave. Call or WhatsApp 082 594 1249 and describe the fault; we will tell you honestly when we can be there rather than promising a time we cannot keep.

What to do before we arrive

If the unit is tripping the DB, switch it off at the isolator and leave it off — repeatedly resetting a breaker on a faulting circuit can turn a repairable fault into a replacement. If water is coming through the ceiling, switch the unit off and place a container under it; the drain is blocked and it will not stop on its own. If the unit is running but not cooling, check and clean the filters, and check nothing is obstructing the outdoor unit. That last one genuinely resolves a meaningful share of emergency calls before we get in the van.

Peak season, honestly

From roughly November to February every air conditioning company in Durban is oversubscribed. We would rather give you a realistic window and keep it than promise an hour and arrive the next day. Contracted maintenance clients get priority during this period — which is a large part of why businesses that cannot afford downtime take a contract before summer rather than during it.

The process

How this job runs

  1. Call or WhatsApp

Describe the fault and the site. Photos and a video of the noise help enormously.

  2. Triage

We tell you whether it is something you can resolve now, and what our realistic window is.

  3. Attend & diagnose

We arrive equipped for the likely fault based on what you described.

  4. Repair or stabilise

Fixed on the visit where possible; stabilised and scheduled where a part is needed.

Questions

Emergency Call-Outs — common questions

Do you do after-hours aircon repairs?
Yes. We attend emergency breakdowns after hours, on weekends and on public holidays across Durban and the North Coast. After-hours call-outs are charged at a higher rate than standard-hours work, and we will tell you that rate when you call rather than surprising you on the invoice.
How quickly can you get to an aircon emergency?
It depends on where you are, the time, and how deep into peak season we are. We give realistic windows rather than optimistic ones. Contracted maintenance clients are attended ahead of general call-outs, which matters most between November and February when demand is at its highest.
My aircon is leaking water through the ceiling — what should I do right now?
Switch the unit off at the wall or isolator immediately and put a container under the drip. The cause is almost certainly a blocked condensate drain, and the water will keep coming while the unit runs because it is condensing moisture out of humid air continuously. Switching it off stops the source. Then call us — it is a routine fix, but ceiling damage is not.
